Creating the Life of Your Dreams (Part One)
By Liz Liles
Beautiful girl, I want you to know that I see you. I see you. The one who has dreams tucked away in her heart and goals that she has held on to for years – and cannot seem to bring into fruition. I see you. The girl who has found that space in life where she knows where she wants to be, and she is working hard… so hard… but somehow cannot seem to make the jump from where she is to that desired space. I see you. And I hear you. And I want you to know that you are not alone.
I don’t know your heart or your story or where you have you been or where you are at this very moment, but I want you to know that you are loved exactly where you are. You are enough exactly as you are. And you have every single thing that you need – already poured into you – to bring you into that space of greatness and success that you so desire. Today, I want you to be encouraged to not give up. Today, I want you to be encouraged to continue fighting for this life that you are wanting to build. Today, I want you to know that you are certainly not alone.
So, where does one even start – when they have been working for years and not seeing the fruit of their dreams? Where does one latch onto hope when it seems all that is coming their way is defeat? It starts here. It starts today. It starts with us.
- It starts with Remembering Your Why.
Beautiful one, we have all heard this a zillion times over at this point, but the truth is – our why is our core. Our why is our reason for getting out of the bed in the morning. Our why is the reason that we sacrifice the things that we want at the moment to chase after the dreams and goals that we have not yet achieved. Our why is simply essential for our success.
When we know our why, we have a Constant Reminder – a Constant Target – A Constant Force – that brings us back to our dreams and whispers into our souls the reason that we began this whole dream in the first place.
So, what is your why? Maybe it’s to provide for your children and family. Maybe it’s to advocate for yourself. Maybe it’s to build a life that you have never been given access to. Maybe it has nothing to do with your own self, but it’s for those around you or a mission or cause that you believe in. I don’t know your why, but You need to – and each day, begin the day with at least a brief moment of pause and reflection to focus on your Why so that this can lead your day.
- Have a Vision/Dream Larger Than Yourself.
When our visions and dreams are larger than ourselves and impact the hearts and lives of those around us, it is an absolute game changer! Suddenly, our dreams are more than just about our wants, our needs, and our desires. It literally transforms into something much larger than we can even imagine, and it changes our mindset to not only strive to achieve this goal for ourselves, but realizing that when we are chasing after the dream and vision, we are also advocating for the lives of those around us.
How is your vision/dream going to impact the lives of those around you? What difference will it make in your family, your community, your state, your nation? When you write this book, how many lives will be impacted because of the story that you have to offer? When you open this business, how many people will be touched by this product or offered the opportunity to serve in your company? When you build this dream, how will lives improve for others? Taking the time to think through the impact of your decisions will not only launch your motivation to chase after this goal, but it will also rally the support of those around you – as they realize that you are not simply fighting for yourself, but you are fighting for others as well.
- Silence the Haters.
And when I say the haters… please understand that 99% of the time, we are our greatest self-haters. The words that we speak to ourselves when we are frustrated, questioning our ability to succeed, wondering if we will ever reap the reward, comparing ourselves to others, trash-talking our best efforts…. These things simply do not help us. At all.
Negative self-talk will absolutely crush us before we can even begin. But the awesome thing is that we have power over this! We can control the thoughts that we choose to rehearse in our minds and the voice that we speak to ourselves. Take the time to write out experiences, accomplishments, moments of success that you have had in your life and career. When the moments of fear and doubt begin to rise up, literally shut them down by speaking truth, affirmation, success over your life and goals – and remind yourself of what you have already done! At the end of the day, you, beautiful girl, are your greatest advocate! So, be kind to yourself!
