Maurey Verzier

I am the Department Chair for the Building Construction Technology program at Pitt Community College and I love my job! My background is in architecture.  In fact, I am a graduate of the Architectural Technology program at PCC.  I also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia.

In 2007, I began my teaching career at PCC in the Architectural Technology program where I spent 10 years teaching before accepting the Department Chair position for the Building Construction Technology program in 2017.  I currently serve as the Vice President of the American Institute of Building Designers (AIBD) Down East Chapter organization and recently, I was honored to be offered to serve as a Board Member for the Greenville-Pitt County Home Builder’s Association.

Teaching in the BCT program has been an amazing experience! I am blessed with the opportunity be able to combine my architectural skills and talents to apply to the residential construction projects that our students build and auction off every year.  I have an amazing team that I work with in the BCT department. We are able to work closely with our local industry partners on student projects and job opportunities upon graduation.

The best part of my job is to watch students enter the program and grow into professionals that walk across the stage at graduation after just two years and start their career in the construction industry!
