Forget what you know about chiropractic care. Dr. Allison Pass of Pass Family Chiropractic has raised the bar for wellness and holistic pain relief. Dr. Pass focuses on whole-body health and treating the root cause of pain, rather than simply covering up pain symptoms with medications.

“Our staff treats everyone like family,” says Pass. “We take the time to sit down with each patient and go over all the issues they may be having. It’s not about an adjustment to get you in and out the door.”

Patients visiting the office receive an evaluation based on their specific needs and in-house x-rays as needed. Pass Family Chiropractic sees patients of all ages. With regular chiropractic care, patients experience less spinal degeneration, less loss of mobility, and less chronic pain. Some health insurance carriers have chiropractic benefits built into their available plans, making chiropractic care widely accessible.

“Traditionally, in the medical field, the treatment for most types of pain is to give medication, but that does not always fix the underlying problem. When the medication wears off, the pain is still there and sometimes the dose has to be increased because your body builds a tolerance.” With the opioid epidemic and widespread abuse of other prescription pain medication, Dr. Pass wants people to know that Pass Family Chiropractic offers a variety of services to help manage and reduce pain.

General, Pregnancy & Pediatric Care

While a visit to a chiropractor may be an obvious choice following a neck or back injury, Pass explains that her patients find relief from a wide range of health issues such as headaches, numbness and tingling in the legs and arms, digestive issues, and localized pain due to sports, overuse and accident injuries.

“What we are adjust¬ing are joints, not just the spine,” Pass explains, “therefore, the adjustment reduces stress on a joint and fixes gliding problems that may cause friction. When we move the joints back into place to allow the nerves and muscles to function properly, it can result in less pain and greater range of movement.”

Planning for both prenatal and postnatal chiropractic care can help expectant mothers experience a more enjoyable pregnancy and easier deliveries. Dr. Pass is certified in the Webster Technique which is an adjusting technique specific for pregnant women.

Pediatric services are available for children as young as one-day old. Aligning an infant’s spine after a trauma of the birthing process has been shown to relieve colic, sleep issues, and nursing problems. Children who receive regular chiropractic care are reported to have improved sleep, stronger immune system function, fewer ear infections, and better behavior.

With the high activity level of children, and more so with those who go on to play youth and teen sports, Pass cautions parents not to avoid chiropractic care. “People think, ‘You’re a kid. You’re young. You’re flexible. You’ll be fine,’ but the reality is that a lot of these children grow up to be adults who experience chronic neck and back pain.” Even if an injury hasn’t been sustained, youth benefit from chiropractic care, too.

To provide care for patients with a wide range of wellness needs, Pass Family Chiropractic offers additional services above and beyond spinal adjustments.

Spinal Decompressions

“Spinal decompression helps people who have herniated or bulging discs or severe arthritis,” says Pass. “It helps to stretch the spine which alleviates some of the pain.”

Spinal decompression can be performed on both the neck and back, providing a non-surgical method to reduce pressure on the spine and discs. The mechanics of the decompression process change the position of the spine, allowing the gel-like discs between vertebrae to move back into place and return to a natural shape. This results in decreased pressure on nerves and allows discs to heal. A perfect example of how spinal decompression helps is alleviating sciatic nerve pain.

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy

While most of chiropractic care focuses on the body’s joints, Pass Family Chiropractic also offers Deep Tissue Laser Therapy as a method for treating acute pain, post-surgical pain, and some chronic conditions.

“It can be used for any area of the body to repair damaged tissue. It helps with inflammation and swelling. Deep Tissue Laser Therapy works 4-5 inches into the tissue, so it’s not just getting the surface,” Pass describes.  “It’s getting down into the tissue to repair and actually makes better tissue structures.”

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy accelerates the healing process by reducing inflammation at a cellular level. According to Pass, someone who has broken a long bone in their leg, for example, may experience muscle pain near the site of a surgical plate; because the pain is in the soft tissue, not in the actual bone, laser therapy may offer the patient non-medicated pain relief and healing. Other post-surgical soft tissue pain and inflammation in tendons can be treated with laser therapy.

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy used in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments can help alleviate sciatica, shoulder and knee pain, foot and ankle conditions, and neck and back pain.

Thermographic Scans

Pass Family Chiropractic partners with Discover Thermal to make thermographic scanning technology available and convenient to patients. Thermography uses a specialized infrared camera to map heat and blood flow in the body to identify potential health concerns. For more information and to find out about the next scheduled thermography event for this noninvasive, radiation free scanning service, contact Pass Family Chiropractic. Using thermal imaging can give early detection of problems in breast, thyroid, pancreas, heart, and lung tissue.
