Just a Thought…
By Mieka Peebles
Throughout life, things are not always made clear. We won’t understand why we must experience certain problems. We’re not going to always know the answer to every question. And we won’t always know what the next step is to take. But through all the chaos and confusion in this world, we must learn and be strong enough to PUSH THROUGH IT; we must continue to move forward…
- Imagine a life growing up with a single parent raising you and your siblings. Questioning where your next meal will come from.
- Imagine going through school, as a child, being bullied and feeling isolated from everyone.
- Imagine being a mother, raising a child that is seen as different and misunderstood by his/her peers.
- Imagine having to live the rest of your life knowing that your only child was taken from you, before he/she could really live and enjoy the life you believed they were meant to have.
- Imagine leaving the doctor’s office, having been diagnosed with cancer.
What do all these situations have in common?
There’s that underlying struggle that every one of us can, to some extent, relate to. We all struggle with something; no matter what the struggle is, it’s a part of our story. It’s a part of our journey. We don’t have to let our struggles bury us. We can use it to our benefit. We can come out of it stronger and wiser. But we cannot accomplish that unless we do one thing:
Be willing to PUSH THROUGH IT.
We must be willing to rise above it all and move forward with our lives. Be willing to enjoy the ones you love while they are still living, learn something new every day, take time for yourself. Discover what your big “why” is for you; one that will give you a reason to want to continue to get up out of bed and make wonderful things POP in your life.
Mistakes are good. That is, if you can see it in a positive light. You can learn from your errors and know not to repeat those same mistakes again. No one is perfect. You’re not always going to get it right, not the first time, and maybe not even the second or third. However, we shouldn’t allow anything to slow us down or keep us from moving ahead in our life.
I am growing. I’m learning every day how to better handle life’s situations that are being thrown at me. And it’s not always an easy task. I am a testament to someone who falls short during the journey. Whether personal or professional (a struggle or mistake), I do my best to remain calm in the circumstances, stay focus on what I am ultimately working to achieve, and know that I will come out stronger because of it all. We are all capable of that. Find something positive to do that will help you keep your hopes up and place a smile on your face. For me, it’s writing or watching something funny. What’s your positive? Could it be spending time with a loved one (friend or fam), taking a hike, meditating, reading, or maybe even exercising. You’re not going to always smile. Life happens; and we are human. But having that positive in mind can be beneficial in that moment.
“Hardship can humble you, but it cannot break you, unless you let it.” ~ TD Jakes
So, why let it? Why remain down if, and when, you don’t have to? Why walk around as though you have been defeated? YOU are so much stronger than that. I am stronger. WE are all stronger.
Are you willing to give up on a life you dreamed of living or are you willing to push through the struggles and learn from your mistakes, so that you may enjoy living in the present moment? If you are having a bad day today, lift your head up, smile, and PUSH THROUGH IT.
PSALMS 31:3 “Yes, You are my rock and my fortress; For Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me.”
He will (and can) guide you through all and any struggles that you may be facing today.
A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT:
Just in case you didn’t already know, something amazing is coming your way. Just hang in there for a little while longer.
